アルバム・レビュー

チャカ・カーンやプリンス同様、古巣ワーナーを離れNPGレコードから発売されたラリー・グラハム率いるファンク・グループのグラハム・セントラル・ステーションのアルバムです。
チャカのアルバムで、プリンス達と一緒にソングライター＆ミュージシャンとして参加しましたが、今回はお礼という形でチャカ・カーンが“Free”で１曲参加しています。
この他、プリンス・ファミリーからはNPG＆NPGホーンズ、ロージー・ゲインズ、クレア・フィッシャー等が参加しています。

プリンスは、ゲストで先程の“Free”と“Just B My Lady”の２曲、マイテも１曲と仲良く参加しています。
サウンドは当時プリンスが好んでやってたホーン・セクションを使ったファンク・アルバムに仕上がっています。
ラリー・グラハムも負けじと１曲目からベースをズンズン鳴らして、バトルしているとこもカッコイイっす！！
欲を言えば、もっと昔のラリーっぽい曲を入れた方が良かった気もします。

ラリー・グラハムをご存知ない方は、最近のプリンスやチャカ・カーンを好きな方であれば、満足のいくアルバムだと思います。

本作とNPGの「New Power Soul」、そしてチャカ・カーンの「Come ２My House」はプリンスの公式サイトで”New Power Pack”として3枚組としてもリリースされました。
これもプリンスのアルバムを買うついでに２人のアルバムを聴いて欲しいというプリンスの優しさが詰まったパッケージでした。
