アンドレ・シモーンが新曲「Hot Funk in the Summertime」をリリース

プリンスの幼馴染で初期のバンド・メンバーだった事でも知られるアンドレ・シモーン(André Cymone)が、先月に続いて新曲「Hot Funk in the Summertime」を7月4日にリリースしました。

投稿時点ではアンドレの公式bandcampのみに無料でアップされています。
無料でもダウンロードは可能ですが、$0.50 USD 以上支払うと無制限モバイルストリーミングが可能となり、アンドレをサポートする事にも繋がります。

楽曲について

bandcampには今回の楽曲について掲載れています。

In creating a Funk album, I returned to my roots, revisiting my personal contributions to the Minneapolis Sound. Though my musical contributions and influence have been a part of other artists’ albums, this is the first time I am putting that origin sound on an album for myself.

今回のファンクアルバムは、俺自身のルーツに立ち返って作ったんだ。そう、ミネアポリス・サウンドに俺がどんな風に関わってきたのか、改めて向き合ったんだよ。今まで俺の音楽って、他のアーティストのアルバムの一部として存在することが多かったんだけど、今回初めて、俺の原点のサウンドを、俺自身のアルバムに詰め込むことができたんだ。

It would be impossible to go back to where it all started for me without acknowledging the huge influence of artists that came before me, inspired me and shot that funk in my veins. James Brown, George Clinton, Funkadelic and of course Bootsy Collins gave me that spirit. Hot Funk, in particular, is an homage to Sly and the Family Stone. That said, Welcome to the Summer of Funk y’all...

俺にとっての始まりの場所に戻るには、どうしても触れておかなきゃいけないことがある。それは、俺より前に音楽を始めた、たくさんの素晴らしいアーティストたちの存在だよ。彼らが俺にインスピレーションを与えてくれて、俺の血管にあのファンクを流し込んでくれたんだ。ジェームス・ブラウン、ジョージ・クリントン、ファンカデリック、そしてもちろんブーツィー・コリンズ。彼らが俺にあのスピリットをくれたんだ。特に「Hot Funk」はね、スライ＆ザ・ファミリー・ストーンへのオマージュなんだ。さあ、みんな、ファンクの夏へようこそ！存分に楽しんでくれよ！
