アルバム・レビュー

通算17枚目(スタジオ・アルバムとしては11枚目)、英語盤としては2枚目のアルバム。
ウォルター・アファナシエフをメインに、チャカカーンを手掛けたフンバート・ギャティカ、シェール等を手掛けるガイ・ロッシェ、アポロニアを手掛けたリック・ウェイク等、今回も豪華な布陣で制作。

アルバムからは"If You Asked Me To"や"Nothing Broken But My Heart"等４曲がシングル・カットされましたが、なんと言っても映画『美女と野獣』のテーマでピーポ・ブライソンとのデュエット曲"Beauty and the Beast"が大ヒットしました。

プリンスは彼女の為に”With This Tear”を提供、この曲は映画『バクダット・カフェ』で主題歌"Calling You"を歌ったジェヴェッタ・スティールのアルバム提供予定でしたが使用されず一旦お蔵入りになるものの"Beauty and the Beast"を聴いたプリンスはセリーヌの声に惚れて渡ったようです。
ウォルター・アファナシエフ達の手によって制作されたため所謂"プリンスらしさ"は皆無ですが、他とのバランスを崩す事無く美しくしっくりと収まっています。

"With This Tear" is one of the last songs recorded for the album 'Celine Dion' stealing a spot on the album which was originally reserved for "Calling You" from the film 'Bagdad Cafe', which Celine regularly sang in concert at the time.
Celine recorded "With This Tear" at the Studio Morin Heights on René's 50th birthday, January 16, 1992.
